The second is that Dr. Ogden's writing offers us a sense of the attitudes and aptitudes which are the attainment of such extraordinary clinicians as Elvin Semrad. This latter aspect of the book makes it particularly special, for to deliver in print the feeling and spirit of the finest clinical thinking is a remarkable achievement. The gift is not a common one. About the Author
Thomas H. Ogden, M.D., is a graduate of Amherst College, the Yale School of Medicine, and the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute. He has served as an associate psychiatrist at the Tavistock Clinic, London, and is currently Co-director of the Center for the Advanced Study of the Psychoses, a member of the faculty of the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute, and a supervising and personal analyst at the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California. He teaches, supervises, and maintains a private practice of psychoanalysis in San Francisco.

This book was very insightful, and was also very enjoyable to read. I felt that the topic was handled with masterly competance, and that the clinical examples were well chosen and really added to making the subject comprehensable. Thanks so much!
